Recently, Maciej Ślusarek delivered a lecture on the legal aspects of script protection as part of a unique initiative – the “Wyobraź sobie” (“Imagine”) competition.
 
“Wyobraź sobie” is a film idea competition organized by the renowned production company Watchout Studio. The competition is open to screenwriters, authors, journalists, and amateurs who wish to present their ideas in the form of treatments. The competition is held under the Honorary Patronage of the Starak Family Foundation.
 
Maciej Ślusarek outlined the key legal issues related to script protection, including the boundaries of inspiration, the concept of underlying rights, and essential aspects of collaboration between screenwriters and producers. The lecture highlighted the practical dimensions of contracts and recent changes in copyright law affecting the film industry. The discussion on copyright, plagiarism, and strategies for securing one’s ideas is more than just theory – it’s a foundation for a safe and informed screenwriting career.
